Joy Richmond, Artist and Studio Founder

Art has always been my life's journey. Each artistic path that I've taken has always been an adventure. My goal continues to be a translator and share the wonders of my encounters.

As an artist/teacher I've discovered that my interest and enthusiasm for art has been a big part of my educational style and a vehicle for communication.

I have restored the country school that I attended as a child and created Pickle Street School Studio. Now my wonderful new studio is a retreat for me and has become a gathering place for artists to share, create, and learn from one another in classes that I teach each weak.

My mediums are watercolor, pastel, and oil painting. My subjects are anything from plein air to portraits. I have had many very talented guest artists at my studio and have learned a great deal from them. They have given me the enthusiasm to continue looking forward to productive and always improved painting. So the journey continues with new artistic experiences and challenges, each that I continue to look forward to.

My work is presently on display at Pickle Street School Studio, Baker Studio in Allegan and on exhibit at West Michigan Cancer Center in Kalamazoo. I am a member of Allegan Area Arts Council, Plein Air Artists West Michigan, and Great Lakes Pastel Society. In addition Pickle Street School Studio is a participant in “Arts & Eats” tour.
