Session 2: 1pm - 4pm
Cost: $95 Full Day  / $50 Half Day

Session 1: Fireworks in WATERCOLOR / with pastel

A new series of watercolor workshops which combine watercolor with pastel. We will paint in two stages. The background is painted in watercolor with wet on wet, graduated or variegated washes. The second stage combines watercolor and pastel to finish out the subject matter and accent details. This is a great class for beginners. Experienced watercolorist as well as pastelists can explore a whole new dimension by combining the two media. Come and create a work of art! Paint brilliant fireworks over Lake Michigan combining watercolor and pastels.

Session 2: Michigan Shoreline in WATERCOLOR/ with pastel

The shoreline is perfect subject for watercolor with the white brilliance of the paper. However, sometimes with watercolor there is a need to ”fix” an area. Combining pastels is a perfect remedy, being opaque it can cover over an area. It can also soften edges and push the color creating an impressionist style. The background is painted first in watercolor, with wet on wet, graduated, or variegated washes. The second stage combines watercolor and pastel to finish out the subject matter, and accent details. This is a great class for beginners. Experienced watercolorists, as well as pastelists, can explore a whole new dimension by combining the two mediums. Walk in, and walk out with a work of art! Paint the sunlit sand dunes, green grasses and blue waters of the Michigan shoreline.
